My Kitchen

I’ve started building something I’m calling My Kitchen.
It’s not just an app—it’s a way of rebuilding something I lost.
Years ago, I had a recipe box filled with meals collected over time. Some were experiments, some were family staples, and a few went all the way back to when I was taking culinary courses up in Minnesota in the 1980s. Those were the foundational ones—the techniques, the flavors, the little details you only learn by doing things the long way.
Somewhere along the line, that box disappeared.
So this is me starting over.
My Kitchen is where everything goes now, but with one important filter: nothing gets added unless it passes the test at home. If my wife likes it, it stays. If not, it doesn’t make the cut. Simple as that.
Over time, recipes will start showing up—slowly, intentionally. Not a flood of content, just the ones worth remembering. The ones that earn their place.
There’s something grounding about rebuilding like this. No rushing to recreate the past, just letting it come back piece by piece—with a few new favorites finding their way in too.
In a way, it feels a lot like those early days in Minnesota… learning, adjusting, and figuring out what’s actually worth keeping.
Not being a programmer, the application is simple. Decided to write one for the “plug in’s” available had fluff not really wanted or needed. Just want a recipe, maybe some notes without the long-winded story or advertisements.
Print should work for most browsers, some may have to choose “simplified” to get the instructions. May tweak it more someday, but being hyperactive there are other projects filling my mind.
Hope people bookmark my little site and revisit.
My time in Culinary School was short bursts, took courses for one year then moved back to California. Spent another six months in classes after returning to Minnesota. Never did graduate, for I left the restaurant industry and moved on elsewhere. Worked in several restaurants, food preparation and line cook; however, never as a Chef, though did run a kitchen for a couple of years.
Full disclosure 😉
